    Carmel is a long-standing educator and multi-disciplined designer with a broad range of experience in sustainable urban gardens. She consults and designs for private clients, has co-designed an award-winning sustainable community garden and recently completed two courses – Environmental Education and Complete Urban Farming – at the renown, multi-award winning CERES Environment Park. Her particular interest and expertise is in the use of repurposed materials, water-efficient gardens, permaculture design principles, small exterior spaces and vertical gardens.

    Graeme Ambrose is a sustainability consultant, energy auditor and managing director of EcoDecisions. He specializes in environmental and energy auditing, energy efficient building design as well as commercial and domestic LED lighting plans and solutions. Passionate about showing people how to reduce their energy bills and its effect on the hip pocket. Graeme is an accredited Energy Auditor with the Schneider Electric EcoXpert programme, one of only three in Australia under this scheme.

    He is a qualified auditor for ISO14001 (Environmental Management Systems) and holds a Diploma of Sustainability, Diploma of Management as well as certificate IV in Renewable Energy, Training and Assessment and Home Sustainability Assessment .

    Graeme is also a training consultant to the H.I.A. and has written many training courses for them in subjects such as Energy Efficient Building Design and Sustainable Construction. Graeme taught Sustainability and Environmental Management Systems at Swinburne University, is one of the pilot facilitators for the SECCA Sustainable Homes Program and also teaches renewable energy in China

    In 2005 he designed a multi-award winning, energy efficient house for his property in East Gippsland.

  • Edible Gardens by Craig Castree

    Qualified Horticulturalist with over 40 years experience at growing his own food.  Craig has become as self sufficient as he can be by utilising space wisely. He can show you how to minimise your power bills by using innovative planting on small blocks of land.  Published author of Edible Gardens (a practical guide) and regularly runs workshops to teach people the skills to do a whole range of things, including (edible gardening, growing healthy fruit trees, keeping healthy chickens, how to become a bee keeper, preserving your crops) to name a few.

    He was the 2015 Sustainability and environment award winner in Wyndham, and has a wealth of information to share.

  • F2 Design

    F2 Design Principal, Tim Adams, is a building designer specialising in high performance houses which aim to combine environmental sensitivity with admirable architecture. Tim is regularly requested to make presentations to public forums on sustainable design. As BDAV president, Tim introduced the 10 Star Challenge; F2 Design was Joint Winner of the Challenge in 2012 and finalist in 2013 and 2014.  The House with No Bills, Tim’s own house, was the cover feature of Renew 120, an experience that has now flowed through to an influx of requests for off-grid houses.

    Greenjoy is a design studio creating gardens that connect people with the natural environment.  We design outdoor spaces where people go, where they meet, play, eat and rest – backyards, frontyards, courtyards, rooftops, balconies.  Greenjoy embraces a pluralistic approach to gardening, where edible, ecological and ornamental intentions happily coexist.  Sanchia Hovey is the founder of Greenjoy and a garden design consultant on the Wyndham Habitat Hero program.  She will be on hand to offer advice, resolve problems and determine sustainable design solutions.

    John Hassall has plenty of experience designing, planting and maintaining green roofs and walls, but can answer all of your garden design questions. John’s background in waste management sparked his interest in green roofs and walls because they typify modern society’s ability to overlook or waste valuable spaces. He has experience in both building and landscape management and the combination provides him with knowledge that is crucial for designing and managing green roofs and walls whose beauty lasts. John enjoys discussing all things environmental sustainability, particularly biodiversity, waste reduction, and urban agriculture. He enjoys sharing his own gardening experiences, both on the ground and on the roof.

  • renew/ATA – Andrew Reddaway

    Andrew Reddaway is an Energy Analyst with experience in advising households and organisations on how lower their bills and how to select the optimal solar-battery system for their needs or optimise their current system performance. Andrew designed and developed the ATA’s Sunulator program and has delivered training courses and presentations to a variety of organisations. Prior to joining the ATA, Andrew worked at the Australian Energy Market Operator where he developed the organisation’s first forecast of rooftop solar generation for the National Electricity Market. Andrew also has hands-on experience designing and installing small off-grid solar solutions.

  • renew/ATA – Michael O’Connell

    Michael O’Connell is an Alternative Technology Association (ATA) technical specialist with a long history in public education and presentation around sustainable living topics. Michael has over 25 years’ experience in the Telecommunications, IT, Construction and Renewable Energy industries. He is a past president of the ATA. Michael runs a design and energy management consultancy business with a focus on sustainable development, and designed and built his own house using passive solar design principles together with solar power and integrated permaculture garden.

  • renew/ATA – Richard Keech

    Richard Keech is an experienced engineer who works as an energy consultant and has industry experience with renewable energy and energy efficiency.  He was a lead author of BZE’s Buildings Plan and is a regular contributor to ATA’s ReNew magazine on matters related to sustainable building technology.  Richard lives in Essendon with his family in their zero-carbon home.

  • Solar Capital Works Project Officer – Wyndham City Council

    Warwick is a Clean Energy Council accredited solar PV system designer with 10 years’ experience working in the Australian solar industry.  He has a background in energy efficiency, technical sales, solar system design and successful project delivery for residential and commercial clients.  As a qualified engineer he has a passion for technology and an excellent knowledge of quality solar solutions to ensure highest reliability, production capability and safety.  Warwick is currently working with Wyndham City Council to manage their Large Scale Solar rollout program where over 2MW of solar panels are being installed across high energy use sites including Community Centres and Sporting Facilities.
