  • ATA – Michael O’Connell

    Michael OConnell

    Michael O’Connell is an Alternative Technology Association (ATA) technical specialist with a long history in public education and presentation around sustainable living topics. Michael has over 25 years’ experience in the Telecommunications, IT, Construction and Renewable Energy industries. He is a past president of the ATA. Michael runs a design and energy management consultancy business with a focus on sustainable development, and designed and built his own house using passive solar design principles together with solar power and integrated permaculture garden.

  • ATA – Nick Carrazzo


    Nick is an energy analyst with the ATA who has worked on numerous projects assessing the benefits of solar installations for residences and local governments. He was the lead author of ATA’s “Are We Cooking the Planet With Gas?” report which assessed CO2 emissions from natural gas and efficient electric household appliances. He is currently working  in partnership with the VIC government to co-ordinate the tender process for 50 new solar PV installations at life saving clubs across Victoria. Nick has a Masters of Sustainable Practice from RMIT.

  • ATA – Richard Keech

    Richard Keech is an experienced engineer who works as an energy consultant and has industry experience with renewable energy and energy efficiency.  He was a lead author of BZE’s Buildings Plan and is a regular contributor to ATA’s ReNew magazine on matters related to sustainable building technology.  Richard lives in Essendon with his family in their zero-carbon home.

    We see each project as an opportunity to serve both the client and community interests by looking optimistically at the present and being mindful of our environmental responsibilities. Our approach is to create architecture that connects people to their environment and makes the best possible use of our resources.

    We believe good architecture is for everyone and our creative work is guided by a rigorous approach to sustainable design, building science and the creative and considered re-use of older buildings and materials. We have a particular interest in developing daylight design and low energy living with in great architecture.

  • Edible Gardens by Craig Castree


    Qualified Horticulturalist with over 40 years experience at growing his own food.  Craig has become as self sufficient as he can be by utilising space wisely. He can show you how to minimise your power bills by using innovative planting on small blocks of land.  Published author of Edible Gardens (a practical guide) and regularly runs workshops to teach people the skills to do a whole range of things, including (edible gardening, growing healthy fruit trees, keeping healthy chickens, how to become a bee keeper, preserving your crops) to name a few.

    He was the 2015 Sustainability and environment award winner in Wyndham, and has a wealth of information to share.

  • F2 Design


    F2 Design Principal, Tim Adams, is a building designer specialising in high performance houses which aim to combine environmental sensitivity with admirable architecture. Tim is regularly requested to make presentations to public forums on sustainable design. As BDAV president, Tim introduced the 10 Star Challenge; F2 Design was Joint Winner of the Challenge in 2012 and finalist in 2013 and 2014.  The House with No Bills, Tim’s own house, was the cover feature of Renew 120, an experience that has now flowed through to an influx of requests for off-grid houses.

    Greenjoy is a design studio creating gardens that connect people with the natural environment.  We design outdoor spaces where people go, where they meet, play, eat and rest – backyards, frontyards, courtyards, rooftops, balconies.  Greenjoy embraces a pluralistic approach to gardening, where edible, ecological and ornamental intentions happily coexist.  Sanchia Hovey is the founder of Greenjoy and a garden design consultant on the Wyndham Habitat Hero program.  She will be on hand to offer advice, resolve problems and determine sustainable design solutions.

  • Solar Capital Works Project Officer – Wyndham City Council

    Warwick Tullio

    Warwick is a Clean Energy Council accredited solar PV system designer with 10 years’ experience working in the Australian solar industry.  He has a background in energy efficiency, technical sales, solar system design and successful project delivery for residential and commercial clients.  As a qualified engineer he has a passion for technology and an excellent knowledge of quality solar solutions to ensure highest reliability, production capability and safety.  Warwick is currently working with Wyndham City Council to manage their Large Scale Solar rollout program where over 2MW of solar panels are being installed across high energy use sites including Community Centres and Sporting Facilities.
